What is the best web hosting?
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Reply:http://www.doggydomains.com has quality hosting cheap.
Reply:If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage.

Nevertheless, the "homepage" URL is likely to be "http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscribe... name" and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., "mydomain.com" which allows you to link any registered domain name to "mask" another website. For example, should you type in the "domain name," you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber... a homepage URL which will be masked by the domain name. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally FREE.

Here's a demonstration: Type in the URL window: "www.pizzanextdoor.com" which will bring up their pizza website. Take note of the domain name. Then type in the URL window: "http://home.pacbell.net/vten/1a/pizzame... and you will see that this is the original homepage which is unmasked without the domain name.

Good luck!

About domain registration and web hosting?

I have heard more than once now that it is good practice for online buisnesses to keep their domain registration and web host companies separate? Can somebody explain to me why this would be if it's so?
About domain registration and web hosting?
Think of domain names and webhosting as an analogy to cellphone numbers and the wireless phone service providers.

The reason why you register your domain with one company and webhosting with another is so that the webhoster cannot take over your website. Supposed you get into an argument with your webhoster...it is easy to sign up for new webhosting service somewhere else and have the your domain registration company to point the domain to the new webhoster's servers.

Suppose you mistakenly used the same company for registering AND hosting a domain and you do get into a dispute with them over bad service...they might take forever and give you a hard time if you try to transfer out the domain to another webhoster for service elsewhere.

I hope this helps and good luck!
About domain registration and web hosting?
So that you don't lose it all. You only have to look at registeflies.com to see current problems.

Your domain is the most important thing and you must keep control of it. if you have control of your domain name you can move from host to better host very easily.

Does anyone know a good web hosting site fairly cheap or free?

I'm trying to start a website but I was wondering what I should use to host my websites. some websites I see stories how their website dissapeared because the company went bankrupt or their system got overloaded and other things. So does anyone know a good web hoster that is cheap. Also my friend is looking to move a site to a different web hoster. Any ideas how to move the same site without redesigning the whole site again. Thanks!

As for your friend, to transfer an existing website from one host to another is fairly easy. Backup the entire site onto your computer in a directory you have created.

Upload the site from your backup to the new host. Check all the links and images on your website to make sure they are working. Your site should be ready to go on the new host.

Reply:It depends on how many webistes u have, and wht kind of traffic.

If you have a site. which wud get atleast 10,000 visitors a day, i would say go with a bigger provider that can give u a dedicated server.

If you seem to have a smaller website, go for a reputable firm such as 1and1 or godaddy.com. Although, they wont be that cheap/ personised.

Also check out small firms, who give out good rates, and a good mix. I host my sites on a site called primexhost.com. Its hidden, i think its not even advertised, but ive been a customer since 4 years now, and not a single complaint.

About 100 buicks a year gets you a domain, free unlimited hosting, unlimited everythign, with everything inbuilt.

check it out, email the info email address n ask them for a lumpsome amount. it might work . good luck

Is there a way to cancel or change my free web hosting given to me in godaddy?

I had recently chosen the Windows web server when I wanted to set it up. But later on, I wanted to change it to LINUX web server. I had not yet set up the Windows web server. Is there a way for me to change it to LINUX web server? This is a free web host given to me during my registration in godaddy.com. Thanks.

They can change it for you if you ask tech support... but there is a much better solution...

1) Get free hosting without the annoying advertisements.

2) Point the DNS servers of your GoDaddy domain name to the servers on your new free host.

Seriously. Free as in no money. And free as in no ads. I've been down the GoDaddy route and still use them for domain names, so I know exactly where you're at right now.

I want to build a web hosting computer, any newbie suggestions?

It's not my first time building a computer, so I have an idea of the basics. What I want to do is learn a thing or two from those of you that know what the heck they're doing.

I'm ultimately building it to use as an FTP site for work realted audio storage/transfer - mostly in .wav format. (Yes WAV, an nessesary evil, it retains the quaility for broadcast.)

Then once that's set up, down the road, to host a few web sites to offset any costs for upkeep. (my brother designs web sites. so I allready know that I'll get a couple of customers)

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I want to build a web hosting computer, any newbie suggestions?
So clearly what you want is a "server' machine. The most stable servers traditionally are *nix boxes. For the past five years or so, Linux has grabbed the lionshare of hosting.

Typically internet connected boxes are colocated. The cost of colocation is typically space rental + bandwidth, with rack space rental being a large part of the total cost. Data center computers are rack mounted, so the typical answer to keep costs down is to use the smallest footprint possible, hence a 1U machine. HP/Compaq, Dell and IBM lead the market in the intel based (Linux) server space, although Sun has been trying hard to get a piece of it, and there are also clone vendors out there.

Because a 1U server is very limited in size, you can expect that it will be maxed at 2 cpus. Until recently, most of these machines were 32 bit, so that capped memory at 4g. Obviously, 64 bit chips are starting to gain a lot of traction, and this opens up the possibility of adding a lot more memory to these servers. While that's definately not needed for your FTP server, webservers that include server side scripts and cgi's and possibly also run databases can always benefit from memory. If I were buying a machine I'd get a 64 bit machine myself but this is a tough call when you don't have any experience setting up a linux server.

The other trend is the trend towards virtualization. Using software like VMWare or Xen, I'd strongly advise that you run at least 2 virtual servers -- this will let you have a sandbox for your main server (ftp server for your audio files) and seperate server(s) for your websites. This really pays off when you consider that you probably want a test and development server.

As you have to allocate memory to each virtual server, obviously the more you have the more you can allocate to each server.

The only fly in the oinment is the question of storage. Typically, you can get 2 drives in a 1u server, although you might be able to get 4 depending on the manufacturer. You want to plan your storage needs out pretty carefully. The larger the drives, the slower and more prone to problem they tend to be. With that said, if you plan to use this as network storage, your network bandwidth will be your bottleneck, and not your IO. If you already know however, that you will have 4 terabyte of these files, then you probably either need a 2u or 4u machine, or you need a disk subsystem.

That's about all I can throw out there, with the information you provided. Hopefully at very least it causes you to ask some additional questions.

One last thing I'd suggest to you in regards to .wav, is that there is the alternative of FLAC, that is a *lossless* compressed audio format that can reduce a .wave file by 30-50% with no loss of quality. You can either transcode back to the original .wav or use a flac player.
I want to build a web hosting computer, any newbie suggestions?
you will need an average computer, good CPU probably between 3-3.4ghz, as far as dual core for cpu's its up to you although all dual core is intended for is to multitask and multithread faster then a single core. since it will be mostly internet based youl obviously need a fast internet connection try adsl 2+, RAM 1gb to 2gb will be plenty and you will need alot of Hard drive space as your working with wav, look at 250-300gb or more as far as everything else e.g. graphics card, cd/dvd drive it wont make much of a difference what you purchase/build. for a soundcard any 5.1 sound card will work although if you purchase a new motherboard ( btw if you are going with intel without dual core go gor a motherboard with chipset 945/ if it is dual core 965or 975depending on your budget) the motherboards will come with onboard 7.1 HD sound which will be plentyful for your situation. hope that helps
Reply:I liked this page at Tizag as a reference for different configuration, as well as a discussion on what you want to get out of hosting yourself instead of using a hosting site.

If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

What is the best web hosting company on the market?

I'm looking for a host for my small website (under 25 pages). Any input on good/bad experiences with web hosts? Who is the best?
What is the best web hosting company on the market?
I've used Lunarpages and HostMonster, and recommend them both for their features, price, and technical support.

They both offer a free domain name and you can host unlimited domains with a single account using HostMonster. Other things to consider are the number of databases and web site templates that come with the account, in case you decide to grow your site in the future (Wordpress for blogging, Drupal for content management, etc).

There's a comparison of web hosting features and prices at the link below, as well as a list of hosts to avoid (including godaddy, yahoo, and others that are way overpriced).
What is the best web hosting company on the market?
Network Solutions is really good. I'd recommend going with the Standard hosting package. You get everything you need plus a free domain name for $120 a year. A little pricier than some, but their service is top notch.
Reply:Godaddy is pretty decent from my experience. Very cheap as well. Good choice for small websites.
Reply:I use Dreamhost for my personal website, and I love them. I have not had any problems running any scripts or uploading files. And when I have had questions, they have all been easy to find and resolve through the community forum. The price is also very reasonable. :)
Reply:I recommend using http://www.radixhosting.com/ . I've been with them for half a year now and the service has been top notch. They are one of the cheaper hosts too.

And unlike the other people posting their "personal experiences" here, I don't get paid if you click my link, I think that speaks volumes.

Can anybody please explain Web Hosting in Idiot Speak?

Hi. I have a domain name, but much to my surprise this is not a website, so I think I now heed somebody who will host my webname to give me a site - is this right???? If so, is there any way I can put my domain name on a different web host to the one that provides the name - cos I think it's a bit of a bugger to have to pay once for the name and then again for a website. Is this right - or have I completely misunderstood how it all works!

Thanks.
Can anybody please explain Web Hosting in Idiot Speak?
There are two principal steps to make your website on the internet and registering/booking a domain name is the number one.

A domain name builds the address of your site and can end in . com, . net, . org, . info, . us, . biz, . tv and further.

Directly afer you have registered your name, you will pick a web host (2nd step). The web host is the guts of any website as this is where you build and publish your pages, build purchase fillings, insert service and preserve your site.

I'll illustrate you how to save a bundle at www.domain-name-register-store.com - and you'll pick up admirable client help desk that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The big name companies cost silly rates such as $30-35/year for an individual domain name, and you gain the matching feature at http://www.domain-name-register-store.co... for 60% or even less.

And now.....make use of the promotion code 5NC25 for a 5% discount on $25 purchase and above.

Wish you success!

Vera.
Can anybody please explain Web Hosting in Idiot Speak?
Think of it like this. You now have a phone number (domain name), but you don't have a phone service plan yet (web host). Yes, you can use that domain name with somebody else, but you will have to set up DNS with your domain registar. Most have good tools for that. If you want an alternative, go to www.godaddy.com and life will be easier. Inexpensive hosting plans and good tech help.
Reply:It seems you pretty much understand how it works. Buying the domain gives you the rights to it, it is up to you to determine where and how it is hosted. You can do it yourself, but getting a real hosting service is better because it's a lot of maintenance.

Often times the place you buy the domain from does not provide hosting services, you are free to choose any hosting services provider of your choice; you can change your hosting provider whenever you want and keep your domain, etc...
Reply:SMART: web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own websites accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Webhosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.

DUMB: Its just a servise that lets you host a website that allows people or organizations that let's there be accesible through the internet.
Reply:Somebody else asked the same question on Yahoo! Answers and a fellow wrote one answer, saying, the domain name is like, "the license plate" and the host is like, "the car". It's like, a host is where you store the files, the meat and potatoes, the content, the thing people read, the words, the pictures, maybe even the programs if you have any, the interactions, all the stuff that makes up everything that a website does. The heart, mind and spirit, the motivation of a website. Its body!

A domain *name* is the part that says to the world, "Hey! I'm over here! Come look! If you want to know where, this is my address, and if anyone asks, use this address, and they'll be able to tell you where I am!"
Reply:Hello,

Web hosting is generally provided by a company that gives you space on a server either for free or for payment to host your web pages. They use a special computer called a web server. The web server where your web site's files and documents are stored is known as hosting or web hosting. Hence the fact that you are hosting your HTML or web pages on that space. Web hosting has nothing really to do with the process of obtaining a web site for your domain name. Some web hosts such as, http://www.freewebhosting.ws offer a free web site builder that once you purchase web hosting you can then build a website for free using their provided web site building software. But the term web hosting just refers to the process of giving you space to host those pages (website pages) you build using a program designed to create those pages for others to see over the Internet via the web hosting that is provided to you.

Hope that helps.

Regards.
Reply:To have a website you need 2 things:

A url like: www.abcdefg.com

Space (a webhost): www.startlogic.ca

For instance, you can buy the package for $5.95 per month, this comes with your .com domain. Or you can buy the 2 separatley.

I can recommend Startlogic as a good webhost with a free domain.
Reply:A Domain name is what users type into the address bar to get to your website. There is usually a yearly fee for registering domains. Webhosting is a server that stores your website files and sends them to people when they visit your website. There is usually a monthly fee for webhosting. You can get both at http://www.doggydomains.com They have hosting for $5.95 a month. You can use this with your domain even though it was from a different company. Just call the 24 hour support line once you order the hosting and they can walk you through it.

For beginners I think yahoo web hosting is the best and easiest use. Yahoo has question and answer section that can solve most problems and direct phone line for additional support.

hi joanna!

you can use http://www.godaddy.com to host your site. I have used godaddy to host both websites i have designed myself, as well as websites that use blog software (like Wordpress).

godaddy is a cheesy name, but their pricing and service is pretty much top-notch. you could probably get away with the "economy plan" for $3.99 / month, which also includes 500 email addresses:

https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/s...

to give you an idea, my iTunes video podcast and my website/blog are both hosted on godaddy... i went with the "deluxe plan" because i need the extra bandwidth. check em out:

Suggestions for web hosting please!!!?

Many times before, I've almost bought something I mistook to be something else. So I'm asking for suggestions on a web host, that's really good, (will give you A LOT of things to be able to do) fairly cheap,(around $10 per month or less) and supports phpbb. I felt asking people who most likely have more experiance will pin point me somewhere in the end better than where I'll otherwise end up in...

For a new domain name just go to any big register, enom.com is a good one and so is godaddy.com. One important rule is to always keep your domain separate from the company you get your hosting from. Too many hosting companies use domains as hostage to keep you from moving when they start to suck.

For hosting in the UK it depends on what you need. For cheap shared hosting try uk2.net or hostnine.com, for a vps solarvps.com.

I would recomend HostGator.com as a hosting company they are inexpensive and works great if you know how to use cPanel. However their support leaves much to be desired. The good thing is that they have a money back guarentee and if you know how to use cPanel then you're good to go.

Be sure that you will know how to use the control panel, and have an FTP Client ready.

Reply:Another big fan of HostGator here... and I've always found their tech support to be responsive, even to the most technical questions (I'm a software engineer).

GoDaddy, on the other hand... good for registering your domain name, but I've not been to satisfied with their web hosting for quite a few reasons...

1) Slower SQL access because the database servers reside on a different machine than the web server -- also bad because now there are TWO servers involved, and if either of them breaks down, your website is offline.

2) Any communication with outside websites has to go through GoDaddy's proxy servers. Slow and less reliable for the same reasons as #1. Who would you want to communicate with? How about transaction processing sites like PayPal and Authorize.net?

HostGator suffers from neither of the above problems.

I note that you mention a "FTP uploader"... you really don't NEED this in Dreamweaver... simply configure FTP access under the Site Manager.

Reply:If you want maximum freedom it is best to have your own web server and just rent a domain name. Otherwise you will have limited freedom and will still need to pay for what you are looking for.
Reply:If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don't go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

Not sure what you mean by not enough freedom but if you are looking for hosting mp3, video etc, don't bother with any free hosting companies because they will delete your account right away. Cheap Web Hosting Reviews?
Well, for my website, I use a service called 1and1 - they have incredible pricing, rock solid reliability, and tons of services.

I've been very happy with them for several years now.

Just to comment on the guy below...I've called them several times and I get a human right away. They have always been helpful, and they are loaded with features way beyond GoDaddy for much less cost per month. I actually LEFT GoDaddy for 1and1 just because of the lack of support and the expensive cost behind GoDaddy's services...

Exceptional Service, Support, Features.

Something 1and1 cannot say, nor IPower, or Network Solutions. Try calling any one of these 3 just to ask a question, hope your telephone if fully charged.

How do I choosing a web hosting package?

I intend to start my own 5 page website. One of the webpages will have multiple links to my business PAYPAL account. I鈥檒l use another page for downloaded PDF and Audio files for visitors to the site - at first, not that many files, but I鈥檒l add to these every few months. The other three pages will contain mostly text that won鈥檛 be changed very often.

1] What should I look for in terms of Bandwidth or allotted monthly web traffic from a web host (in other words, how much Bandwidth)?

2] What should I look for in terms of Disk (storage) space from a web host (in other words, how much disk space)?
How do I choosing a web hosting package?
Here is the perfect solution.

No limits on bandwidth or traffic.

How do I choosing a web hosting package?
It sounds like you will be very minimal, so you could go with any entry package.

Bandwidth, disk space, etc, do not matter much to you with a website of this description.

The smallest hosting packages come with WAY more than you need.
Reply:1) the bandwidth calculation is correct as John R said.

2) add up the sizes of all files you need and see how much that amounts to. You will obviously need more space. How much ore, think about how much more stuff do you intend on adding till the next payment (this is generally done yearly).

This does sound rather minimal, though I have no idea how much the pdf files amount to, in size.

Reply:Begin with setting up your own webpage as your current internet provider will provide free hosting as discussed below.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a "homepage" which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. And if you use the Netscape browser, the built-in Composer feature is a superior HTML authoring tool which is totally free.

When you acquire a domain name, connect it using a redirection service [as discussed above] and submit/publish the domain name on major search engines/directories in order for Net surfers to find your website.

Good luck!

What is web hosting?

I bought a domain at www.web.com, are they my host?

I thought a host was someone who built your site for you?
What is web hosting?
Here's the quick and easy explanation;

A domain name, which is what you say you bought, is simply the internet address people will use to find your site online. My domain name for my online hosting company is http://www.mxdwebservice.com. With this information a person can simply type the name into a browser window and find my site. :)

A web hosting company is a company that owns and maintains servers where they store all the files of a persons web site. For everything you read and/or hear about web hosting, it's really just a large self storage company for electronic data. You pay them a fee and they will house your web site files and point your new, shiny domain name to the files residing on their servers for you so all the happy, shiny surfers can find you. Unfortunately, you still have to actually provide the webpages they will store and display to the public for you....

Thats where a web designer comes in. This one is an easy one, web designers are exactly what they sound like...they design web pages and web sites for a fee.

It is the combonation of all three services that make up your average web page or site.

My own company, MXD Web Services, offers all three services for very reasonable pricing. Domain names are free with the purchase of any hosting plan and plans start at only $5.77/mo...thats less than $70 for the year! We also offer professional web design, with basic rates starting at only $100/page...of course this is negotiable depending on what your site needs are. :)

For more information about Domain Names, Web Hosting or Web Design go to http://www.mxdwebservice.com where you will find tons of free information about running a successful site!

I hope I was of some help!

Good Luck!
What is web hosting?
The host is the company who has the server.
Reply:Well there is domain name.. which is what you bought... www.web.com

And there is web-hosting where all your website will site in during the period of time you want it publically seen.

Webdesigner are the ones who create the site for you.
Reply:they are the server that host the website. email me I can help you build a site. I am a web designer.
Reply:A domain name is a URL such as http://www.yahoo.com

If you need to experiment with hosting, just go for free hosting for a start. Once you have learnt the basics, go for the paid ones so you get better availability and uptime.

To host your site for free, I would highly recommend the following 2 sites.

Awardspace -%26gt; http://www.awardspace.com (PHP + MySQL)

50webs -%26gt; http://www.50webs.com

Both of these sites allow you to host for free and does not have any advertisement pop ups like those provided by geocities.

I have sites hosted on both the companies. Example

Awardspace -%26gt; http://www.wanginternet.com

50webs -%26gt; http://cctvcamera.50webs.com

Also, read a review I wrote on Awardspace at http://www.wanginternet.com

Hope it helps.

Becoming a Web Hosting Reseller?

1. Has anyone really made money from becoming a webhost and domain reseller?? How much exactly per month and with whom (which host did you become a reseller of)

2. I want to enter and become a web host reseller which Original (First-own) Registrars are OK to deal with?

3. How can I attract people to buy from my reseller site?

4. How do you distinguish if the registrar is a original first-own (a company who is the mother unit) and not a reseller? Is there a list of registrars who are mother units and not resellers themselves? I mean is it possible for a reseller to resell his webhost %26amp; domain services to another reseller?
Becoming a Web Hosting Reseller?
1. Yes many people became rich because of it and others started their own hosting company after a while (I'm one of them) , no one ever can tell you how much you can earn every month because it depends on a lot of stuff like : Packages,Prices,Advertising, support and most important people trust in you .

2. From over 3 years of experience I recommend JagPC for you to start as a reseller then in future you can even get a server from them and start your own hosting company their support will help you in every thing because they are really friendly .

Check JagPC reseller program from here :

http://www.jaguarpc.com/r.php?a=20183.40

3. That's a long story but you can find some good answers for it in JagPC community forums .

4. There isn't a list of web hosts or resellers in the world because they can't be counted but in most cases a reseller can't provide a reseller host but some companies allow that actually .

I wish you the best :)
Becoming a Web Hosting Reseller?
My hosting has the nice little addition of allowing you to set up new hosting accounts through your hosting account.

This basically means that you can resell my hosting at a price that you choose.

Web hosting for small business?

We would like to host a web in the name of M/s. Arpitha Exports for that we need procedures for long term contract.
Web hosting for small business?
Basically, what you want to look for here is important "technical" features, and not be sold on a lot of glitzy gimmicks.

Number One is that there must be an easy, reliable, and SECURE method of backing up your data and transferring your files...

1) Does the host allow you to configure a direct connection between your IP address and that of the server (essential for using software like SQLYog to backup your database). If not, then at the very least, there should be PHPMyAdmin for a browser-based way to import and export data, though that's a less-than-ideal way to do backups.

2) Does the host come with popular, powerful, STABLE open-source software that you can choose to auto-install via a script instead of having to plow through a bunch of software manuals and upload all those files? Examples... PHPList (for the mailing list), PHPBB2 (for online customer support, discussion forums, etc), Zen-Cart (a shopping cart), and a content management system for your regular web pages (Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, etc)

3) Do you get a complete suite of email tools, including auto-responders, a default domain-wide address, spam-filtering (SpamAssassin), white-list filtering, etc)

4) Do they give you a reasonably large quantity of parked domains that you can install yourself via a web control panel? So you can have, say, shop.example.com and support.example.com and info.example.com -- these are critical when you want to analyze where your web traffic is going.

5) Do they give you web statistics analysis tools like Webalizer and/or AWStats?

6) Last but not least, do they offer interactive online classes and tutoring instead of just leaving you to read a bunch of web pages and figure things out for yourself?

Odds are you'll be hard-pressed to find ONE host that will give you all of the above. But now you've got a ruler to measure what you're getting. And yeah, I know of one or two that meets those requirements, but I'm not going to mention them here because I don't want this Answer to be an advertisement.

Web hosting provider's SMTP ???

What do I need to do to set a SMTP on a PHP based comment form ???

I've got the form ready along with all the necessary field validation and everything.

Since I want to receive e-mail after someone presses "Submit" button, I would have to make some changes in "php.ini" file but I wonder in order to do so, would it make more sense if instead of using "localhost", I use the SMTP provided by some web host company (such as godaddy.com), something I could only get AFTER I sign myself up with them.
Web hosting provider's SMTP ???
the problem is that you want to send an email to another server right? your page is on a server and must have it's own email serving program (daemon) running. I wondered this too and ended up installing sendmail on my linux box.

btw, if you didnt get that far, mail() is the php function you want to use.
