What to look for when selecting a web hosting company?

Most web hosting companies seem the same. What unique or important factors (aside from bandwidth and storage) should be considered when making a selection?
What to look for when selecting a web hosting company?
First of all, look at the price. Places like www.freewebs.com are free, but your homepage is branched off of their URL. Then, look and see how easy it is, and how much skill of HTML/CSS you have to know. Make sure the site is compatible and easy to use, and if you have to pay, read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before submitting any personal info. I would go with www.freewebs.com, they are free and easy to use, and have a set template so you dont have to make your own.

Local support, cost and reliability. You didn't ask, but I have used digitalspace.net for years for the web domains that I maintain. They are very inexpensive $36 a year, and the support has been fantastic. Good luck.
Reply:Look for bigger storage and bandwidth and go for multihosting where you could host limitless domains.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.

Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

Visit the site to check details.

Reply:Depends on the nature, purpose and mission of your web site.

For instance a web site with a professional mission would require a web hosting package that would serve the purpose and intent of that profession. On the other hand a web site that has been set for the sole idea of fulfilling a personal hobby or for fun would require a hosting package that is probably free and simple.

The first thing to do before choosing any hosting company is first to understand the features that any given hosting package comes with.

Then compare those features with the needs and wants of your web site.

The underlying idea is to choose only that web hosting company that will provide to you a web hosting package that will meet the needs and features of your web site.

  1. Hi,

I would recommend "Host Gator" for your web hosting because it's very cheap and reliable. Their support service is awesome. This company offers site building tools, application vault, web mail, antivirus, Php, MysQL ,e-commerce and hosts unlimited websites in one plan. Don't go for free web hosting. They are not reliable.
